Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of MeritMosaic, including the iOS app and the website at meritmosaic.io, operated by Katafract LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

MeritMosaic is an AI-powered self-promotion journal that helps you log achievements, sharpen resume bullets, generate recommendation letters, and track your portfolio strength over time.

Core features include:

• AI coaching — Classification, enrichment, and bullet sharpening using large language models (LLMs). AI outputs are suggestions only; you are responsible for reviewing and accepting them.
• Recommendation letters — You can request structured written feedback from a teacher, counselor, or mentor by sending them a unique link. They complete a short form; their response informs your portfolio score and may be used to draft a letter with AI assistance.
• Resume generation — AI-assisted documents based on your journal entries and resume profile.
• Portfolio strength score — A computed signal based on your logged activities, mentor feedback, and AI analysis. It is an estimate, not a guarantee of any outcome.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

Credit purchases and any subscription fees are processed by Stripe. By purchasing credits you authorize us to charge your payment method for the amount displayed at checkout.

All prices are in USD. Taxes may apply depending on your location and are added at checkout where required.

Credits are non-transferable and have no cash value. We do not offer refunds on credit purchases except as required by applicable law or in cases of a verified billing error.

When you send a feedback request to a teacher, counselor, or mentor (“mentor”), we send them an email on your behalf containing a unique one-time link. By initiating this flow you represent that:

• You have a legitimate relationship with the recipient.
• You have their permission to receive this email or it is reasonable to expect they would welcome it.
• You will not send requests to people you do not know or use the feature to spam.

Mentor responses are stored in your account and are used to compute your portfolio strength score. You may delete a request at any time; deletion removes it from your visible list but submitted responses may remain in de-identified aggregate analytics.

You retain ownership of all journal entries, resume data, and other content you create in MeritMosaic (“Your Content”). By using the service you grant Katafract LLC a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and transmit Your Content solely to provide the service to you.

We do not use Your Content to train AI models owned by Katafract LLC. When Your Content is sent to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) for processing, it is subject to their respective data usage policies.

You agree not to:

• Use the service to generate misleading, defamatory, or fraudulent content.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer or scrape the service.
• Use automated scripts to make AI calls in volume (e.g., to exhaust credits of other users or to abuse the BYOK path).
• Share or sell your account credentials.
• Use the service for any purpose prohibited by applicable law.

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. AI-generated content is probabilistic and may be inaccurate. Portfolio strength scores are estimates — they are not guarantees of admission, employment, or any other outcome. Mentor feedback is provided voluntarily by third parties; we do not verify its accuracy.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Katafract LLC’s total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

You may close your account at any time from the Settings screen. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms.

On termination, your access ends and we will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email and/or an in-app notice at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Houston, Texas.
